Meaning and Definition - Computer Network Architecture

Meaning of Computer Network

To know the meaning of "computer network", we first have to know the meaning of "network". The network is made up of two words.

For example, a policeman in your area finds the thieves or the culprit in very little time. Why? Because his network is very strong. He catches all the thieves because of his informers. Informers are related to the people, or "nodes," in the sense of a network. The informers communicate with each other and pass the message to the policeman where the thief lives. This kind of network is a manual network.

Now let me take another example. Suppose you are going to buy a SIM for your mobile phone. There are two Sims available in the shop. One is for company X and one is for company Y. The shopkeeper suggests company X sim. Why not company Y? because there are a very large number of towers of company X in your city. This means a strong network will be there on your mobile.

In this example, the company's X towers, which are in the range of your mobile, communicate and send a strong signal to your mobile.

So, the manual network definition is "a group of connected nodes working together or communicating together to make up something."

Now we add "computer" to it. So, the nodes become devices.

Definition of "computer network"

"A computer network is a collection of devices that are connected to allow one device to communicate with another to share resources, data, and applications".
