Network Requirements and Goals - Computer Network

Network Requirments and Goals

To build a network, you have to fulfill some basic n/w requirements and these are the goals as well.

These are –
1. Higher Performance
From one device to another device, the message flows in the transmission medium. The whole process takes time is called transit timeAlso, the transit time must be very less.
Between query and response, the time is called Response time. So, the response time should be minimum.

There are several factors on which performance is dependent.
Number of users
Transmission medium
Software
Hardware

2. Reliable
The network should be reliable. The probability of n/w is measured by robustness. No one is 100% reliable, but if you make a network that shows failure every time you want to communicate with others, then you are in a big problem.

3. Security
You have to control
(i) Virus
(ii) Malware
(iii) Ransomware
(iv) Unauthorized access
(v) Loss of data, and different other n/w damages.

4. Resource Sharing
The primary objective of a computer network is to share resources. Its purpose is to make all programs, data, and hardware available to anybody on the network, regardless of the actual location of the resource or the client.

5. Cheap –
The network should be cheap and best.
